I am looking for a 1/2" x 1/8" collet. Do they even make such an animal and if so, can somebody point me in the right direction please?

I would even be satisfied to find a router extension that had a 1/2" shaft and then a drill chuck on the other end that would go down to 1/8" or smaller. I am trying to find a way to use my small dremel size bits in the 3 1/2 hp PC router. If anybody has a good solution other than what I am trying to do, by all means chime in. I'm open to about anything that works Most of my smaller mills are 1/8" shaft, but I have a few that are 3/32" shafts too.

I have made several phone calls to the usual sources, and have come up empty handed so far. Any help would be appreciated.

K2 cnc makes an adaptor for 1/8 inch bits. You can use your 1/2 portercable collet and insert the adaptor. It uses a setscrew to hold your 1/8 bit in place. I have one and it works well. I think it was 20 dollars or so.

Enco has a mini ER collet adapter that fits a 1/2" router. You order the collets separately, but 1/8" is no problem.

I'm surprized that the K2 adapter uses a set-screw. How does it keep the bit concentric?

Lots of precision tool holders use set screws. I don't know about the K2 product, but a set-size Cat 40 tool holder will have a precision-ground bore for the tool (which keeps it concentric) with a set-screw in the side to hold the tool. I don't believe it's a good idea for a 1/8" tool, though, as the set-screw will have very little to grab onto and they rarely come with ground flats.
