You know someone named Lenard who lives on a mountain called Petit Jean overlooking the Arkansas River, has to be a serious Arkie. Just so happens this guy, whom I just met today, is a great bluegrass player. He 'bout got me to believin' that Tony Rice and Jesus are good friends. He left me with a pile of Tony's music to whet my bluegrass soul on for a while.

Well, anyway, I hand him a grand auditorium cocobolo with an Adirondack Red top and he had the walls of the living room bulging in syncopation in short order. Wow, that guy could play. Kept asking for a heavier tortiseshell pick, and then wanted to know it the turtle died a natural death or the shell came off old nicknacks on Ebay? Huh?

Well, He didn't want to give it back, but he did. Now, if anyone tells you a guy named Lenard from Arkansas is playing nearby, you ought to check it out, might be him. I got a little nervous when he asked if I had a sharp pocket knife and something about him working a little Clarence White improvement to that Grand A. I'm just not sure if I can trust him alone with one of my guitars just yet.

Hey Lenard, I'm ready to see those pictures of the Naegles. Lenard and I had a great art teacher in college. You can read about that here: http://www.dickeyguitars.com/dickeyguitars/Naegle.html

Wow those Naegle paintings are beautiful. He really could capture the emotion and the ambiance of his subject matter.

Lenard got to see my Naegle's yesterday, so I'm going to see him soon. Plus, he has a 110 slides of Steve's work he photographed in Casper Wyoming in the early 70's.

Found each other through a mutual contact in Nashville, through the internet searches. These guys were a couple years ahead of me, so we've never met.

Naegle had more talent in one finger that I in my whole body. Here is a pic off my website:

Bruce,

I didn't know you were tolling around my back forty and taking pictures of some of my wood storage sheds!

What is even more amazing than looking at one of Stephen's paintings was watching him paint it. He definitely had magic fingers and an eye for shapes and colors. A scene would just magically appear as he worked.
