Todd I tried Martin a while back when I was pricing a refret for someone on an old Orpheum they don't have it. Try TJ Thompson, I understand he may sell it these days.

T.J. is the man with the bar fret. I believe he bought out the remaining Martin stock and has many thicknesses available.

Does anyone know how to get in touch with TJ Thompson? I'd heard elsewhere that he has it, but he doesn't seem to have a website.

This is a note from forum member Vivian from an archived bar fret topic:

Hello All,

Here's more info about the bar fret wire and ordering info for those
interested in making a purchase:

The wire is available in 16 gauges from .045 inches to .060 inches wide
(thick).
This bar fret wire is gauged, flattened, radiused and ready to install!

Gone are the days of wrestling a mass of twisted bar fret fettucine to
the ground! Hooray!

The price is $3/foot.
Shipping is $8 for any quantity ordered. (It is shipped in a cardboard
tube.)

To place an order please send:
1. Specifications for which gauge(s) you wish to order - and -
2. How many feet of each gauge - and -
3. Your shipping address - and -
4. Check or money order for the total cost of your order plus $8 for
shipping ...

If you have any questions please feel free to contact me via the OLF/
Private Messenger.

Thanks and Happy Fretting,
Viv

Martin does in fact no longer sell the bar fretwire. I guess I'm going to have to mail this T.J. fellow, as Vivian doesn't seem to be very active here anymore.

Thanks for the help guys.

Hi,

I'm so not active here anymore that I couldn't remember how to sign in and had to re-register with a new handle. So Viv2199 = Vivian.

If you have any bar fret purchase questions just let me know via PM. The post that Louis quoted was from a while back.

Best wishes,
Viv

Just to let everyone know, TJ Thompson is still the best source for bar fret stock. Viv's original post re: sizes is still valid. I bought some from him a couple of weeks ago. Just send him an email and he'll respond in a day or two. He was very helpful.
