Larry what a nice guitar. I like the looks of the cutaway. Very nice work.

I keep looking at that guitar, trying to grasp what specifically I find so appealing about it. First I think the shape of the cutaway is elegantly understated and that's always appealing. Mostly though, the way the flame in the maple binding works with the streaking in the sitka is beautiful, especially with the ablam purfling without any other embellishments on either the binding or purfling. Again, elegant undertatement in elements that are often more flamboyant and overstated.

It's beautiful.

Thanks Wade...the photos make the guitar look way better than my luthier abilities! My buddy who took them also designed my logo last year, and is working on labels for me as well...I've actually finished 3 more guitars which I'll post soon, and 3 more are right behind those....

Cheers,
Larry

Guys, guys...my head, it's swelling so! I got lucky...the guitar sounds awesome, very loud and balanced across the strings...the pickup is an inexpensive import from an online dealer...I bought 3 of them...I'm told they make the pickups for many mid-line guitars on the market today...the customer never really planned to plug in, but wanted the capability so that's the road he decided to take...I've since worked a deal to use only LR Baggs in my guitars unless the customer want something else...the import has such a thick undersaddle strip that the slot in the bridge had to be routed so deep it was scary!

Here's guitar # 2...this "batch" of 7 was all kind of done at the same time, so the learning curve has been flat...I'm hoping for big strides on # 8! Thanks for putting up with me!

Larry, they are both nice looking guitars. You've got a good eye for material combinations. Is that tortoise binding on the second? Lets see the rest Don A38584.8343634259

Don, yes that is tortoise...I really like it against the maple...we had considered ebony, but this is a "twin" of a spruce/EIR guitar that I made for this girl's husband and the tortoise was a common element...pix on the way in a new topic.

Larry,
Great looking work! It's hard to beat the combo of IRW with curly maple binding.

One question: Why are you building in batches of seven?

Bruce, it wasn't intentional! I just would get a side set done and in the mold and while glue was drying on a top and back I'd bend more sides...then it just snowballed from there...I've sworn only 2 at a time max from now on!

I have to say I really really like that streaky spruce. Beautiful guitars Larry!

Great looking set of guitars. Your maple "tip" on th edege of the fluorintine curaway is real nice. Maple shows all goofs and I don't see any.
