I love the walnut...very pretty stuff. And the cherry neck matches the color scheme nicely. In fact it seems to mirror some of the lighter streaks in the back.

Unless that's the case throwing my eye?

P.S.-- Actually to all our UK brethren:

You guys ever think of selling / trading some of that nice European walnut for some of our American treasures? Say, Southern yellow pine? Sassafrass? Tulip poplar?

Don't they sound exotic? Float those names by your customers and see what they say.... Surely we could work out some kind of swap.

Really pretty guitar, Russell!
I like to work with cherry myself and I think it makes a real nice guitar neck, and also back and sides.

I didn't cut down the trees, but the back and sides and neck are both grown here.

Steve I'm sure we can work something out, if you want some walnut, that case is quite tame, I use Hiscox cases as alot of people over here do, one of the mysteries is you never know what colour the lining will be in ! A while ago it was coming in Orange which really was horrible.

I have some Cherry back and Sides but haven't got around to making something with it yet, but I will do shortly (I like to make a guitar that is not a customers order with something first just to work it out, but time has not allowed it recently), I use it quite often for necks and really enjoy working with it.

Very nice work as usual Russell. I like the cherry neck on the walnut, did you get that from Andy as well? I've got an order in with him for some Walnut, and some Mahogany (you can't have too much) but would love some of the cherry B&S and neck material, maybe I'll send him an E-mail!

Steve, I've got half a 1000 year old fallen yew tree that came down in 1987 still to cut up, the stuff I used on my lute backs, boy, you want to see that glow! I'm still trying to dry pieces large enough for B&S sets without it cracking, but if I do I'll bet you'd swim the Atlantic to get hold of a set! I expect either Russell or I could get you a set of the Walnut, I'll add it to my order if you like.

Yew bet I'd like some of that yew.
Also, I haven't yet lost hope in that Cuban bench wood!

Colin & Russell--when we were in Edinburgh we stopped at a local music store and saw a Fylde, Magician model I think, made of "English" walnut. It was beautiful. More streaked than our native walnut, and lighter in color as well. They had paired a western red cedar top w/ it, and the combination was perfect.

Now as for swimming the Atlantic to get some of these goodies, I dunno....

Walnut and Red Cedar a match made in heaven. I have an order for a Walnut/Redwood OO so will see how that combination works.
