Severl people asked that I post pictures of my latest. Here are the details:

Mahagony back & sides
Redwood top - Thanks Don Williams
Sycamore binding - Thanks John Hall.
Macassar Ebony fretboard
ab-lam rosette.
French Polished with Seal Coat.
1-3/4" width at the nut
2-5/16 string spread on Pyramid brige.
Scale length: 24.9

I very happy with the sound of this guitar. It is well balanced and has a lot of character. The wide fingerboard makes this guitar good for fingerstyle.

I hate finishing which is why the "Gods" made me finish this guitar twice. I'm still not happy with it. I'm going to spring for an HVLP sprayer for the next ones.

Mike, really like the color combo. How was the sycamore binding to work with. I have quite a bit of it but was warned that it is a bit soft to use as binding.

Sycamore is pretty soft but considering that it has a redwood top I wouldn't use it as a touring guitar anyway. It is pretty though and works well for the "Wow" factor.

I'll have another one to show in a couple of weeks. This one is going to be quite different.

Redwood/Mahogany a classic combination and in an OM like that should just about be perfect for DADGad. I love the classy restrained look, just my type of guitar, send it over and I'll give it a proper review.

I'll have it air lifted out to our ship right away.
As for the sound, Your's right. It does like DADGad. This is not a guitar for cowboy music. Each string has a lot of overtones and they tend to overwhelm each other if you're flat picking.

I don't care for gaudy guitars and this is about as fancy as I'd like to get.

Thanks Mike I'll be expecting it, I'm getting a bit fed up with my little plywood travel guitar! My main DADGad guitar is a Mahogany/Cedar OM - I don't have any redwood - but I want to put together one with redwood as a future project. I think you really need a 14 fret for DADGad as you tend to capo up often.

I'm not a fan of gaudy guitars either I like to let the wood speak for itself, I've only used pearl once and didn't like the effect, so I stick to using only wood.

Great guitar, it just looks right, which usually means it sounds right.

What do you use for seal coat?

Seal Coat is a brand of pre-mixed shellac made by Zinsser. It is a 2 pound cut and works just about as well a shellac that you mix yourself.
