I had my last client specify Grover locking rotamatics on his guitar. I had never use them before, I installed them last night and I have to say I like em for a mid line tuner. 18:1 ratio and a simple but affective locking system that works!!!. Nice neat apperance with very little string windings on the post after tune-up. I may switch from M6's to these as my basic tuner

I use them too. especially on electrics. they work well. There sould be no string winding when properly strung (about half a turn). that alleviates any tunning problems do to string winding movement/settlement with the winding itself. Just post to nut. Sounds a little kinky...oh well...

p.s. I align the post hole with the nut slot, pull the string as taught as possible and wind and ct off excess. it usually locks down pretty quick and there is no excess winding. Only problem is if you need to losen the string ( like while working on the nut or saddle). The small amount of string left is difficult to get back in the tuner and locked down.

That is the only issue I ran into as well, but did not a lot of problems. most of the time I was able to leave the string in the post and still get the ball to release from the bridge plate and out of the peg hole with out issue. Man!!, after strung up it is a very clean look.

Later this week I will post the pics of the completed acacia/bearclaw sitka OM. It is in intonation stage right now. I set the string height and did the basic nut and saddle (less final compensation) work last night. Im not sure I want to let this one go out the door to quickly. It is not going to take but a touch of final intonation and will sing sweet!!!!

I could of had the final setup finished, but I played it in the raw state for three hourrs last night
