Jordan, is it a hollow body construction ? I like the spruce top and the fanned frets... Very classy guitar...

An explorer style (maple, wenge, sipo, PU bi-comp finish):

I am interested in the explorer guitar. What is your technique for getting a tight fit of the maple top plate around the end of the neck/fingerboard? I have built a couple of basses that have a complete top plate over a neck through construction. For me it was very tricky to route out the exact shape of the neck/fingerboard end in the top plate, small gaps had to be filled.

I made a mdf template of the top plate, working with files for a tight fit with the fretboard and then I used a router with a "copying" bit for the maple top... it works not so bad...

But, I forgot the angle of the neck, so there is a little gap (hidden by the pickup ring)...

Mostly hollow, solid underneath the bridge.

Hey guys. Im new here!! I have been building electrics for about 4 years. Here is a latest build. It is a Ken Lawrence explorer copy. Oiled neck, bubinga veneer.

A bass that recently got strung up. Mostly cuban mahogany.

The Gold-top SG I've been working on for the last (would you believe?) two years. The guitar is all Honduran mahogany, neck-through construction, with a chambered three-layer body. The gold paint came from Guitar Reranch. The standard SG design was altered a little to allow a 24-fret neck. The neck is BIG - 1-7/8" wide at the nut, with a massive boat profile.

this are a couple of early projects there was (and still is ) a lot of learning taking place. the explorerish one is neck through.. the other just looks like it.

I have been so busy since I joined OLF that I haven't posted much at all. I recently moved my shop and now that I am set up for the most part I'll have some more time to hang out. Hopefully I'll be able to post more in depth progress threads of some of my builds.

WOW...aside from this being the thread that continues on for 7 months now, I'm really impressed with the number of really creative and beautiful electrics that the OLF members have made.

If anyone has the time, and in in the midst of an electric build, I'd love to see a series of progress pics. For me in particular, I'd be most interested in PUPs and the different wiring schemes to achieve the effects that folks are trying to achieve.
