Hello Jojo,
What did use to fill your inlay? Epoxy and ebony dust?

Hello !

Yes, epoxy and ebony dust, but I got some bubbles issues when the epoxy dries... [uncle] :?

Next time I'll try another epoxy... ;)

That's a shame, it looks killer from the pics.
I've been thinking of using your design for my sons first electric. He will be 3 in september, so i would have to build a 3/4 scale or "Jr." size.
I was thinking a LP style at first, but I like you design better. Do you know how I would print a 3/4 scale template from the .pdf ?

Hi :)

I'm glad you like the design :D

With adobe reader, in the printing fonctions, you must have a scale box, with a ratio at 75%, it will work. If you don't got an acces to a A0 tracer, you can print it on several A4 sheets, there is a fonction in adobe reader to... I don't remember exactly, but I know it's possible... ;)

I hope you'll show some pics from your son's guitar... ;)

I have been messing with Adobe Reader, no luck yet. I'll figure it out eventually, hopefully before September. :D

I'll be sure to post my progress, it might be a week or so before I can get the wood, but I'll definitely keep you updated. [:Y:]

How is yours coming along?

Hi !

here is the 75% plan : http://membres.lutherie-amateur.com/joj ... _75_A0.pdf ;)

Yesterday evening, I've sanded the inlays and epoxy... and I still got little bubbles in the mix... [headinwall] idunno

One pic with the ugly jonctions :
Image

And two pics for the colors :
Image Image

I'm going to try another epoxy, and I'll fill the little holes with cyano... :|

Have a nice day,

Jojo

Jojo, you are the man! [:Y:]
Thanks alot for the plan. I cant wait to get started.
Do you think the epoxy was alittle too thick to fill properly?
I guess there could be alot of reasons, luck of the draw i guess. idunno
Atleast it's nothing too serious, It still looks great none the less. [clap]

Then, a first coat of system3 sb112 epoxy, in order to hardened a little bit the burl before using a flush trim routing bit (not sure of these term :? )

Voilà... ;)

More news next sunday, I hope... with the channel for the snakewood bindings and the carving of the top...

Not all of the pictures were playing nice for me (might be my connection here) but WOW! That is some incredible burl!!!

I was hoping to get a look at the plans you linked to, but wasn't able to see them...again it might be a problem on my end. Is there an alternative link?

Thanks, and looking forward to seeing more progress!

You're right the pics aren't working anymore...

I got a problem with my ftp and I must change the links but I can't edit my previous posts... :?

Hi everyone !

Thanks Chris, I'm glad you like it... ;)

For the headstock design, you're right, it's definitely the hardest part for me when I'm drawing a guitar... gaah :D ;)

Have a nice evening !

Yo !

Work of the last two days...

I made the electro cavity :
Image

Then, I made the neck angle in the mortaise, pickups cavities and the strings thru body ferrules :
Image

I've started the neck carving (rasp, spokeshave and scrapers) :
Image Image
There are 2 mm left to get to the 21mm thickness...

I made a rough carve on the maple burl top with the router, then gouges and convex finger planes ;)

Image Image Image Image

I also trained myself to bend snakewood binding... oh my god... it's very difficult for me... the waist and the lower bouts won't be a problem, but the two "horns" seem to be impossible for my poor bender skills... [xx(] :?

Voilà... that's all for today...

Don't hesitate to comment, critic, etc... :) ;)

Hello jojo,

It has been a while since I posted, but I have been watching. I had ask you permission to use your design and make a couple of small changes.......well now they are not so small any more!

Below is a wire frame of what I have planned as the first build using this design. I call it the jojocaster! I am using a Telecaster scale neck with the flat neck design of the Tele as well. I am using Tele hardware and wiring. I redesigned the head stock a little to simulate the cut away area and upper....uh...non cut away area! I still have lots of work to do but hope to begin cutting by next week end.

The only reason I am doing this is to enter the MIMF $100 Tele contest. The problem is, I hate the looks of a Tele......please no stones! I determined to use your design as much as I could but do the build as much like a Tele as I can. This is my first build and I figured with a $100 limit I can't hurt myself too bad $$ wise.
I owe my first attempt to you and I hope to do you proud!

Mike
