Just wondering if our sponsors here sell bridge plate material...if so, what kind? I didn't see any on any of the websites. Thanks in advance

I have eastern (hard maple) bridge plates. They are about 1/8 x 1 7/8 by whatever length you want.

You can usually get a bridgeplate out of the cutoffs of the waist area of the back.

Steve at Colonial has a lot of different types. Try the Honduran Rosewood.

Paul: it's the noun form we're using when we say the 'waste from the back' or 'waste material'. Not the 'waste area', which is dubious. 'Wasted area' is fine, I guess. Although given how much scrap in various tiny sizes I've got kicking around, and how often I end up using bits of it, I don't know if any of it's really wasted ;-)

I was talking about the waist (as in the slim area between the bouts) because that's the area the renders the most unused material (or waste if you will).
Who came up with this language anyway?

I used African blackwood for bridgeplates on my last guitars. Stiff, resonant, and don't think they will wear out anytime soon. I bought a couple of tuning blanks at a woodworker's show that should provide me with plenty of bridgplates.
