G'day guys.
I'm after advise/methods of rounding off the fret ends without marking the fingerboard. I haven't got one of those flatened triangular files unfortunatley ,and haven't had much of a result with a 4" smooth edge file as per Cumpiano method

I'm having trouble in particular , rounding the bottom corner edges, without marking the fingerboard

Thanks for your help once again guys !

Hi Craig -
I use the fret end file that Stewmac sells, it has one smooth surface that bares against the wood surface to prevent marking up the fretboard edges.

Hi Paul

Have you had a look at Tim Mcknights article in the jigs section ? I use his file design foe beveling and then the little stewmac file the same as lance for dressing the end. The thing I find with the Stewmac file is it files very smooth and the rounded safe edge doesn't mark.
