I have the stewmac router base for my dremel and the post with out the spring has acquired a nasty habit of undoing its self, it never used to do this before do you guys know of any way to tighten it up a little, or is it just worn out.

Russell, you might try wrapping a turn of teflon tape around the threads. Like plumbers use for pipe threads.

Russell, mines never done this as far as I can remember. Without it to hand I can't be sure but could you not just fit springs to that side as well?

Hi Russell, I noticed that if I don't torque that knurled
nut down good it does tend to loosen up. I haven't noticed a problem since I applied a little more elbow grease to tighten it. An option is to maybe put a lock
washer on the lower knurled nut between it and the router
mount assembly.

I agree with Craig, use Loctite. The red stuff they claim is 'permanent' and the blue stuff is just to keep them tight. I used both when I made my aluminum router base and installed studs and different fixtures. It works great! I don't think that the permanent stuff is so permanent that you couldn't undo it if you wanted.

I use a pair of needle nose vise grips and just give it a light tightening. Otherwise it's loosey goosey every time...

   I use a jam nut. This is easy to loosen to make adjustments
