Thanks Bob and Don for the compliment.

Don, It is black walnut. I had the tree sawn in 83, sadly most of the wood went into re-production funiture before I got into guitar building.

Hey D.L.,

It's strung up and sitting on my lap most of the time these days. I bought the Rob Ickes dvd's and am trying to make a sound that sounds musical. It's not that easy! I had hopes of buffing out the finish over the past week, but I was not able to get to it. I still haven't hammered in the frets either, which won't happen until the buffing is all done and the neck is ready to be permanently set. Pics in 5 minutes....

Pics up.

One thing I think that I'll do differently on the next one is to make the body deeper. I have it around 3.5" at the neck joint, and 4.25" at the butt. I think I'll up the thickness to around 4" at the neck and 4.5" at the butt, to try to see if I get a deeper, boomier sound.Don Williams38662.4108333333

Hey D.L.,

The saddle is standard whatever comes out of the package from Beard's parts.      Not sure how that translates to height...same with the nut.
You know what? I totally forgot to put the baffle in! I meant to, but was so anxious to get it finished and get strings on it that I completely forgot to deal with it. I'll have to do that while I have it apart to buff out the finish. Thanks for the reminder!
