Hey, wasn't that fun! We got to meet J.J. who drove quite a ways, and Lance drove almost as far but didn't have to cross state lines. Eldon gave a very good talk about Gibson, I bet he would still be talking if we were still there listening! And he'd still be able to tell us things we didn't know. Bryan's shop, and his guitars are awesome....and again our group has grown! It was good to meet the folks who hadn't been there before, too!
Let's hear what the rest of you thought of it!Mark Swanson38633.8021875

Just got back home after 3.5 hours each way!!! But it sure was worth the trip.

Eldon's collection of vintage Gibson's was awe-inspiring as was his knowledge of acoustic guitars, history and the culture of lutherie.

Bryan's shop was a dream to behold...I only wish I were closer...I'd love to sign up for any courses he offers. Most impressive was his new stash of BRW...about a pallet load. He's probably still cleaning our drool off those sets!

Next, it was most enjoyable to meet Mark and the Michigan Mafia. Thanks for critiquing my work as well as the great suggestions on the Tele project. Can't wait to see the pics of the meeting.

And finally, it was great to finally meet Lance after all these years of forum posting...but the time passed all too quickly. He's the best forum czar anywhere!

OK...so when's the next meeting, Mark...I'll bring the beer!

Yes it was a lot of fun. It was good to see Bryan again and look around his shop. And thanks a ton for all the info about Gibson Guitars Eldon. Looking forward to being at the next meeting. You all take care and the very best regards,

TW

It was great to meet people in person today! Just learning of Bryan and his operation was the initial catalyst for me. I went to FSU for an associate in Machining 15 years ago, but had I known he was just a few miles down the road, I'd have been changing career plans!! Lance and JJ, wonderful to meet OLF guys I've sponged knowledge from for a while now. So, Lance, what route got you safe and sound to home base? Mark and fellow MGL's, some great examples of vintage guitars to add to Eldon's display! Bryan and Eldon, thanks for an information overload of sights, sounds and aromas (gotta love guitars).

Thanks to everyone, it was a great meeting. I apologize for being half
asleep and sort of standing off in the corner, but I did learn a lot and will
bring something of mine to show next time. Thanks to Eldon for a very
informative and well organized presentation, and to Bryan's hosting and
his shop tour. I've been curious to see his place for a long time and was
very impressed. Though I did'nt play JJ's guitars, I thought they were as
asthetically pleasing as anything I've seen. Lance, I told Mark some time
ago that I'd design a MGL logo and will give it a shot if anyone's
interested. Let me know.
