Well the bandsaw just arrived, barely fit through my shop doors and I'm going to have a heck of a time getting it upright. Thought you guys might like to see what's ahead of me.
I've got to find some young "studs" and ask them, in front of their girlfriends of course, if they've got any muscle on their bones. Then maybe offer them a couple cases of beer to lift this monster.
ENJOY!

Nice going, Doug, that's a beauty. Just leave it where it is and have a horizontal bandsaw.

Wow, where is that green icon for envy? I get the neighbor kids to help move equipment all the time. They are cheap and think their backs will last forever.

Shane,
I certainly hope so. I'm going to be doing my best to get some kids around here to give me a hand. Two of us though yanked it off the truck with a pallet dolly. I'm an old man! I should have been giving direction, not trying to stay out of the way of nearly 1/2 a ton of moving cast iron. That's just not right. Jeesh.
Well, when you come down, if it's still on it's back, I "know" you can heft it up. Movin' all dem log all over Canada and back.BlueSpirit38653.1522916667

Hey Doug,

If the kids are in short supply, you might be able to get it upright with a hydraulic engine hoist. I rented one from a local rental outfit to lift my 800 lb. milling machine atop its 30" high stand.

Best,

Michael

I unloaded my minimax saw out of the back of my truck and into my shop
by myself. Come on you can do it. You don't mind getting a hernia do
you?

These are the 3 Queens! I sent you a picture, once upon a time.

From left to right: Figured Redwood, Wild figured Redwood (AKA: Fire Redwood), and a wicked looking piece of possibly unusuable maple. That should put the saw to a good test.

Now the cob webs have cleared. I'M IN!! It will be fun. You might talk to Bob about a good band for that stuff, my experience is the one that comes with the saw should remain at the curb with the packaging material. When I start to mill some hardwood I will probably try a Lennox 1.25 to 1.5" carbide tip with stepped tooth spacing. But Bob has much hardwood experience than I.

I am trying for the 16th of November, if they let me into your fine country!
