Hey Guys, & Ladies if it applies
New to the forum and just thought I'd introduce myself,
My name's Dale and I'm fairly new to the art of Lutherie. I guess I differ from most luthiers in the sense that I don't play an instrument & didn't have much of a back ground in woodworking before I started. My wife & both of my children play, but I do good to play the radio.
I've been building solid bodies for about 3 years and have just started my first acoustic. It seems like you never stop the quest for knowledge concerning this very addictive art, and that is what led me here. So if ya'll don't mind I'd like to hang around, maybe eves drop into a conversation or two and ask a question every now and then.

Thanks, Dale Hanna

G'day there Dale,
Good to have another builder (mad man ) aboard.
I'm the smart one here ,so you can probably ignore the rest.

Seriously though,,,, I was thinking (dangerous!), ,that pre internet days, a starting out builder would have a few books, maybe a bit of instruction from a couple of others ,and away you went with those half dozen peoples viewpoints, ideas etc.
Now we have the input of over 400 brains on this (the best), forum alone.
We gotta be way ahead. Now, 400 divided by 6 = 66.66

Which should make you a 66.66 times better builder than pre internet days, ,correct ?
We are expecting quite a lot from you now Dale.
Luckily enough, we are past making any mistakes at all, and expect the same from yourself.
We look forward to copius amounts of pictures of your build so we can pick it to pieces, bit by bit by bit.
These must be huge close ups. Any flaws we can discover ,makes us feel good all over

I know you'll enjoy it here mate and I'm fair dinkum about that !

Regards KiwiCraig

Hey KiwiCraig!
You sure you put enough pressure on the guy?? We don't expect perfection from the new folk until at least the second guitar!

Welcome aboard Dale, nice to have you.
So what is this first acoustic project? Tell us!
Feel free to post pics if you like also.

Thank's guy's, I do my best work under pressure
I'm still waiting on my side bender so the only thing I've been able to work on is the neck but here is a couple of shots of it.

The body is going to be dreadnought cutaway made of Oregon Myrtle,I'm still not sure about all the other detail's yet like the binding and such. Tell me what you think, I'm thick skinned so don't be shy.

Dale
