All the diagrams I've seen show grounding to the bridge. What do you do in the case of an archtop with floating bridge? I have 2 humbuckers, 2 vol, 2 tone and a 3-way switch.

Most people, if inclined to ground the strings, ground the tailpiece if metal, or add a strip of brass to the underside of a wooden tailpiece and ground to that.

you should still be able to ground to the bridge, just run a wire from your electronics to one of the bridge posts, should be the same as any other tune-o-matic.

There has to be a more elegant solution. I have a wood base to the bridge and a Benedetto type tailpiece. Can't imagine a wire running to either one.

If it makes noise, and it bothers you, you could try a wrist ground.
A bracelet that ties into the ground somewhere.
My advise to somebody that doesn't like a noisy guitar or amp is,
play it, then you won't hear the noise.

See a Norlin era Les Paul wiring harness. Notice no ground connection to strings but very thorough shielding even a jack "can".

How long is that in luthyears?

I ended up attaching a wire to the low E string ball end and running it to the output jack. The bridge is a tune-o-matic so should ground the other strings.
