to simply load and start a cnc machine would not take much training and almost anyone could do this. To program it takes a lot more knowledge

Better question....who can operate a keyboard? Been drinkin or somethin buddy?

If you have a CNC machine call a tech from the manufacturer to come and train you. If you don't have one and you are going to buy one, make arrangements for on the spot training. It's not that difficult anymore as most of the systems don't require the user to understand and use code commands, although it probably helps. The most difficult part is coming up with the 15,000-25,000+ necessary to buy one.

Unless you buy one of the benchtop machines like the K2 at $7k-$9k (new)..

I have a guy doing some assembly work for me, but have yet to get him operating the CNC. For me to be comforatble to have someone to operate the CNC, I figure they must be safety conscious and know what and how the machine works. Here are a few things the must know how to do:

- tool change
- set zero accurately in all three axis
- know how to hold down material properly, safely and flat
- how to surface the machine
- training in each specific CNC design, some are a little more finiky than others.
