I have been slow on updates to my website, but one of the new items is Sperzel Tuners. I posted these on John's thread about Grover's but thought I should let you all know in a seperate thread. Sperzel have a variety of tuners but they don't carry "traditional" classical tuners or tuners for slot head guitars. Here are some pictures of some of their items and the sets that I have presently in stock.

These are the packaged sets:

These are the Chrome Pro's:

Here they are in Black:

Here they are in Satin Chrome:

And these are my favourites, open back satin chromes!

One last picture includes their non-traditional classical tuner (on the right):

Another neat thing about Sperzel's is that they make them with graduated posts keeping the brake angle over the nut better (higher post near the nut and then shorter as you move away from the nut).

The price for these sets is $56.00 (remember OLF'ers get 10% off). Satin Gold and Gold plated would be an additional $6.00 and locking sets would be an additional $12 more. I don't have a price for the classical tuner but I can get one quickly for those interested. They also make a "drop D tuner" and I can get prices for those aslo if someone is interested.

These are US made and very nice. I just weighed them compared to a set of Schaller's I have and the Sperzel's are about 3 oz lighter per set.

The open backs look neat! What's the ratio on these?

Mario,

They are 12 to 1 gear ratio. They have a lot of unique features and come in a couple of different button shapes, including a Martin shape, as well as a MOP button.

Those open back satin chromes look great, I like the idea of the graduated post, assuming I remembered to put them on in the correct positions. Shane, what head thickness do they need? Only one set of Waverly left, mmm, maybe!

Very cool Shane,

Do the open-back ones come as either satin or gloss gold also? How much more are the MOP buttons & will they fit any style Sperzel tuner?

I've got two projects in the works that still need to order gold tuners. I'm almost ready to order & was going for Schaller open-back gold but these Sperzels look much more interesting. Should I email or PM you for availability, cost, & shipping particulars? Get these up on your site & you'll sell a bunch of them I'm sure.

Thanks

Shane

I should have all the options and prices for these aluminum tuners tomorrow evening.

For those of you who want more details, these are aluminum tuners and are well made. I was talking with Ted Thompson of Thompson Guitars today and he has been using them on his instruments for about 16 years. Although he has slowed down in recent years Ted was working with 3 or 4 people in his shop for some time and has built a lot of guitars. Ted stated that he has seen some of the guitars he had originally installed these tuners on and 16 years later they still look and operate as new. Ted is discerning, so to me this is high praise.

Anyway, details tomorrow.

Shane
