Up until now, I have used pre-routed bridges. What type of jig set up do
most of you use to route your saddle slots?
Also, do you do this before shaping the bridge or after
Andy

Hi Andy

I could have sworn Don W had one in the jigs section but I can't see it now. At the moment I am just using a simple one I got from the Campiano book, just two pieces of plywood, and you run the laminate trimmer with a side fence on down the edge.

I have been working on one which slides on draw runners, but I haven't quite got the kinks worked out, and after visiting Dave White, he gave me some new ideas on bridge angle, so I may be changing.

What I would say is don't try to use a dremmel, I just found it unsuitable as it wasn't stable enough, I use a laminate trimmer with a 1/4" shank bit.

In a discussion recently Mario showed his method, he use a bridge that is slotted through and cuts the slot on a table saw. Simple but very effective.

There is the complete bridge making jig by John How in the Jigs tools and techniques section. This include the saddle routing set up.

Good point Terence, my router has a square bottom and I have marked my jig so I know which side of the router goes where although I discovered the need before I marked it if you know what I mean.John How38685.8787962963
