Shoveling snow and raking leave are the two things that REALLY kill my back. SO - for fathers day this year my wife bough me a leaf blower And two summers ago I picked up a Toro Snow blower for 40 bucks at a garage sale, needed a little work but its my best friend when im looking down that long driveway.

Paul,
I realy hate the cold weather too. It was in the seventies here yesterday. I too hurt my back when I had to pull a cover over the pool to keep the water at 86 deg. (it was going down to 60 or less over night). First time in years I needed to cover the pool and wham! out goes the back! just isn't right...

I used to think that a long driveway was some sort of status symbol (when I was a wee lad) but now I just see it as expensive blacktop repairs and lots of shoveling. ARRRRG!

With my back, I don't want to even think about what it must be like to shovel snow. Living in Houston, I don't have to worry about it, fortunately. But we have trees -- big trees -- and so do the neighbors. This time of the year, with a light breeze blowing, all the trees' leaves get blown all over the place. Hehe. Share and share alike.

I used to get out there and rake leaves, and rake and rake some more. Rather, I tried to. Just killed my back. My wife finally said I wasn't gonna do it anymore, and hired a gardener. I wasn't keen about spending the extra money, but my back sure has appreciated it. I reckon if I lived up in the Great White North, a snowblower wouldn't be a luxury -- it would be a necessity.

I thought the same as you Paul. Long driveway and big yard was a status symbol. Now that we are over, a long driveway, a large yard and 3 hired hands to clear them are a status symbol.

Helena MT... Been snowing off and on for over a week.
Cold - 6 degrees F. Have to keep the sidewalks clear, as if someone is injured on an icy/snowy sidewalk in front of your house, you are liable!

Note to self: Get snowblower!

Basement is 70 degrees with 42% RH. I think I'll hang out there!

I live in an apartment on the Upper West Side of NYC. I would love some snow as it might hide the rats!!! Yuck, they are in the basement of the building, right under my shop. Hopefully they will be gone soon, as they don't pay rent and make inefficient clamping cauls
