I am assuming my truss rod is too long but I would like to confirm this before I buy a new one. The truss rod is 13 inches long and it extends 1 7/8 inches past the tenon. Any help would be much appreciated.

Too long. Looks like an LMI truss rod. One end should be around even with the first fret and the other about flush with the end of the neck tenon. LMI makes custom rods for no extra charge. There is also a nice little video on their site showing how these rods should be installed.

Phillip posted the link to it but it seems to load pretty slow. If you look up their truss rods, the video tutorial by Robert O'Brien is on the same page. Thanks for the video Robbie! Here's the link to the page. http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproduc ... welded+nut
