Brad, He will cut the cavities too? Is there an up charge for that? Man, that'd be a real time-saver and worth the $$ if it's not outrageous...

Arnt, Tom Ellis is great a guy as they come (you might have met him at ASIA). I think I recall Tom telling me that he has a 50 item minimum order (going by memory). (Man I won't live long enough to make that many guitars -- or would tire of my logo first). The folks at Custom Inlay have a bunch of Techno-Isel CNC machines. I'll bet they could handle or convert whatever language you are using.

Just received another Shipment of my logo's from Andy Depaul. Beutiful work as always and way cheaper than anyone I have found. I keep contacting different CNC guys about Price and they Ussually come in at twice what Andy charges me and they have a minuimum order. With Andy I can get them 10 at a time so I don't have a big layout and just order as they start to get down.

Hey, John
Andy did the letters I'm about to use on my headstock. I also needed them taller than he had on his site. No problem, and no set up charges to enlarge his usual fonts. I think I paid about $6 each in gold and white MOP.

Andy's gig is unique what with the hand cutters over in Viet Nam tossing logos out quicker than you can program a CNC and having no set up fee...he did my first two batches at $12 each and it's a 2 piece logo...I did have to cut a couple myself and it just confirmed that Andy is definately cost effective!

John, this may be too obvious, but check with Craig Lavin, he has said to me that he's interested in doing small stuff as well as in legendary mega inlays.

In fact I have checked with Craig and though he is not quite as cheap as some guy in North Vietnam, there is that added Cachet of having him do the pearl that appeals to me, however simple the project. He has graciously told me he would cut a few (dozen ) K's.

Yes, I remember Tom Ellis from ASIA, he was in the mandolin discussion panel with Don Mcrostie and Gerhardt Rolfe IIRC. He seemed very nice and also very into all things cnc. I agree, I might change my mind about the logo before I use up 50 of them! Andy DePaul seems to be a pretty good option...

Lance, If you were having trouble getting rid of the background without the piece of the nut, let me know. If you have the original, I'd be happy to do it for you. I've learned some techniques this summer that might do the trick.

Steve Brown

[QUOTE=LanceK] John, check out Custom Inlay, They do mine for 25 bucks a pop.
There link is in the often over looked, OLF Online Resources page

What do you mean by the pearl that appeals to you, Just curious what type of pearl he carries that others don't?

It's the fact that Craig is doing the work that appeals to me. I don't really care what kind of pearl he uses, as long as it's gold MOP. I think I left out an important comma or perhaps I should have just rewritten the sentence. But thanks for reading what I and asking.

I agree Arnt, I've bought a lot of shell from Andy and have always been pleased with the service and quality.
