I just sliced some Lutz brace stock I got from Highmountain 5 years ago.
Absolutely incredible wood!
Low mass-perfectly quartered,NO runout!
I still have Euro blocks I got at Michael Gurians 30+ years ago.
The Lutz is as good or better then those blocks!
But you can't get those anymore !

Since I've known Shane he has never let me down; the quality of products he sells and his
desire to make sure the customer comes first.

[:Y:]

Here's another thumbs up for Shane ... I'm just now using the first Lutz top from him and it is spectacular to say the least (as is his service).

Ah...nice to see you on here, David. I've been to 12th Fret so many times. Hope to see some of your guitars in the store at some point.

Cheers,
Charlton

I have to jump on the band wagon too. I was just working with one of his tops the other night and I believe it's among the best I've used. I was going to send Shane an e-mail thanking him for the great wood, but I'll do it here instead!
Thanks Shane.

I am really looking forward to using the stealth Gotoh's I recently got from Shane and of course I love his spruce.

Shane = Quality, Integrity, Value, Honesty. He's an OLF icon and all around good guy. These are qualities I'll never take for granted anymore. Thanks, Shane!

We better slow down or his hats are going to go up a bit in size. Seriously it is a pleasure to deal with someone who cares about his product and his customers. Congrats again Shane. Thanks.

All the accolades and praise heaped upon Shane is well deserved. He is a great guy, and his product is top notch. I, like Todd, have built with the packing tops he sent as protection.

Speaking of Shane's packing wood, I brought a set of it up to Alan Carruth's class a few weeks ago to test it's stiffness properties because I had another top I wanted tested and one of his other students was testing some stuff, too. I figured why not check out it's numbers. The other student did the testing, wrote all the numbers down and Alan ran them through his computer program. Once he did that, he came out and pointed to the packing material's numbers and said "Where is this top?" He was very impressed with it since it was very low density and very high stiffness. So, it turns out, despite it's cosmetic imperfections, it's an excellent top! Working around a knot and a couple of pitch pockets, it should yield a classical or a 00 top. Alan feels it will make an excellent classical top due to it's very low density and high stiffness. I ended up giving it to him because I figure he will be able to make something a lot nicer than me with it. Pretty amazing that something that turned out to be that high quality came to me as packing material!

Matt

For the past 4 years, Shanes Lutz is the only spruce I have used. Great stuff

Matt, was this a recent buy? Not too dark/red in color? Probably the same tree where the 11-tops deal comes from. It is very light and of excellent stiffness to weight indeed.

+1 here. would have used the packing to if it didnt have a certain spot on the wrong location. but the tap was AMAZING on that one. [:Y:] . the guitar I am building right now got Shanes Lutz on it best tap tone by far. So did the last one I built. .

No, I got it about a year and a half ago. It's got a few dark streaks on it but certainly no more than that beautiful guitar John posted. I can't wait to see what Alan does with it.
