Up till now Have been getting by withan old minimax s-45 and starrett blades . Have been reading forums where woodworkers compare the merits of laguna vs scmi minimax, and lenox woodmaster ct vs lenox trimaster blades laguna resaw king etc. I am looking to upgrade to a bandsaw that will be accurate an can be used for resawing, for walnut , rosewood , maple , mahogany, and mulberry etc.. Have narrowed it down to scmi mm20 or laguna 16 hd ,which I saw on JS bogdanoviich DVD he resawed a lot of purflings.sides etc. Was not sure , what type of blade was in use .but it is a lot more accurate than my homemamde fence. Basically I want to upgrade to a more accurate /powerful bandsaw. Your thoughts and experiences with bandsaw/blade combos that work thanks. Ps the s-45 is good for general use but not for resawing accurately. i.e. .005-.010 tolerances

Useful tip: Contributors at SMC get access to the Deals & Discounts forum there. You will find a fellow from Laguna that will hook you up with monster Resaw King blades for around $95. 3/4" to 1" wide, 3 tpi, variable pitch, custom cut for your saw. Of course, now that I have mentioned a brand, the hoopla shall commence. You will need at a minimum a 16" saw.

I'm very happy with my Laguna 16 - 3000 and Resaw King blade. I'm sure the HD would be cooler but for the money the 3000 does everything I need it to do. Great yield with the Resaw king blade. It has a VERY thin kerf.

Mike! I'd sure like to know more about $95 RK blades. What's SMC? Sign me up baby!

See YA,
Danny
