Lance and I have been getting some questions about the ASIA membership / AG subscription benefits of the paid OLF memberships. I have commented about this in prior posts and answered a few personal messages and emails, but enough people are asking that I thought that it woud be wise to make a general announcement.

ASIA membership
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you have paid for an OLF membership you are included as an ASIA member. Nothing magical happened, no notification was sent out, and no acknowledgement was delivered to you via ASIA. We simply paid them the money, transfered your info and now you are in.
You will receive the remaining 2005 editions of Guitarmaker, and all of the 2006 editions. Issue #54 has gone to press and you should see this in your mailbox before the end of the year.
So all is good on that front.
Acoustic Guitar.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The OLF piggybacked on a deal that ASIA put together with String Letter Publishing to provide every ASIA member an Acoustic Guitar subscription. We "inked" our deal with ASIA right after the handshake took place between ASIA and AG.

In the interim ASIA has been busy publishing and other items have been on the front of AG's plate and this is just now becoming a reality. I have a call in place tomorrow with AG to finalize what needs to happen to get all the subscriptions to start.

In retrospect... we might have been a little pre-emptive to include this with the OLF offer, but it seemed like everyone was on board and it was a "no brainer".

But rest assured you WILL receive the AG subscription and it will be for a full year. Sorry, this has just taken a little longer to implement than we originally intended.

I hope this makes sense. Feel free to email me or PM me if you have additional questions.

much obliged for the status report, Brock; however, this raises a question:
do you mean to say that those of us who joined ASIA via the OLF deal will
only get the 1 issue of Guitarmaker for 2005?

Just like knowing what to expect, is all (yep, I'm old-fashioned).

Thanks again, Brock and Lance, for bringing us such a great deal!!

Brock, I have one small comment, I hope it doesn't seem picky..you said:
"The OLF piggybacked on a deal that ASIA put together with String Letter Publishing to provide every ASIA member an Acoustic Guitar subscription. We "inked" our deal with ASIA right after the handshake took place between ASIA and AG."

Well I was already an ASIA member...I subscribed here to help you guys out and I do like the place and wanted to support it. When you guys put out the deal for your subscription, it was a good one...but the way it was worded made it sound like only the members who subscribed here get the magazine subscription...now it seems like ALL ASIA members get it, so what you are saying seems to mean if you were an ASIA member you would get the magazine without joining here. I never understood that. It was just confusing I guess, and I suppose it doesn't matter since I belong to both anyway!

That is a good point... Here is a little more history...

Initially AG was going to offer this to ASIA as a promotional tool, and a way for the two organizations to begin to formulate a relationship.

That is when the OLF membership offer was made.

As time marched on it became more evident that AG would like to serve the entire ASIA membership, and this would help ASIA by becoming a "benefit of membership". So the deal was expanded to include everyone.

I think that our goal (at the OLF) is to provide as much value as we can to our members and we felt like this was an exceptional value -- regardless of how the package was assembled; and two, we are committed to supporting ASIA in their efforts to grow the membership and advance the general cause of lutherie....
