I saw the article on kit building in the most recent issue, but haven't looked at the video promo yet.

A long time ago--maybe in the late 80s or early 90s--they ran a three part series authored by Grit Laskin. That was very comprehensive, and dealt with scratch building from raw lumber to finished product. Plans, tools, procedures, etc. etc. etc. I haven't read it for years, but I've still got it around here somewhere. I expect if I read it today I'd notice some gaps in the details, but it really was quite good.
