Robbie O'Brien has added yet aother DVD to his collection. Look for this DVD in the OLF Auctions soon.

Read below for details on preording.

Robert has done it again! In addition to his classical and steel string guitar building instructional DVD's he now teaches you how to finish your guitar. This DVD covers surface preparation and pore filling, choosing and applying a finish, and buffing or rubbing out the finish to a high gloss or satin sheen by hand or machine. Oil varnishes, lacquers, urethanes, waterbornes, shellac and French Polish are covered in detail . The section on French Polish also includes video clips so you can easily learn the technique. Watch as Robert skillfully demonstrates each type of finish on a seperate guitar with pictures and step by step audio instructions from beginning to end. This DVD will de-mystify the finishing process and give you the skills necessary to completly finish your own guitar.

Order your copy today by visiting www.obrienguitars.com or www.apprenticepublishing.com LanceK38702.4787384259

Thanks Lance. That's right. I have finished my latest DVD which is on guitar finishing. This is a problem area for most luthiers and woodworkers in general. My DVD will show you how to choose and apply finishes suitable for guitars. For those that have been asking about French Polishing, I teach a technique that will allow you to French Polish your guitar in a day. I also show how to rub to a high gloss by hand or machine as well as many othe rtechniques. This DVD will help improve your finishing technique.

Thanks for all those who have ordered copies of the DVD. With this DVD as well as my other DVD's on guitar construction, if you have any questions about any steps or techniques send me an email and I will do my best to explain things.
I can't wrap them up in rosewood and send them but how about a nice BRW guitar on the cover?

In some 40 years of finishing furniture and many figured walnut gunstocks I learned that one can always learn more. The two guitars I am working on now are walnut-BUT- I found Robbie's steelstring video entertaining and really helpful, over and above the usual suspects in the book world and forum info-so, I have just gladly ordered my DVD. Thanks in advance Robbie O.

These are more like a book on DVD. This is not a video that you can watch. When I originally ordered I thought I was getting video. I was dissapointed at first, but not after reading/listening to them. These are worth the money and I definitely got alot out of them.

Tom,
The slideshow format is one that I discussed at length with my publisher. We decided on this format because we could get all the info on one disc as oppossed to two. This kept the price low. It seems to have worked really well and most people have made really positive comments about the slideshow format with audio and how well it works.
I have had my DVD's shipped all over the world and only one customer wanted a refund due to the slideshow instead of motion video.

Ditto on what you guys all said about Robbie's DVD's. I have his other two and just ordered the latest. The format is very easy to follow and doesn't distract from the learning at all.

I've had to put my building temporarily on hold for a little bit because my job is sending me to Purdue to get my Ph.D., but I'll have time to build again between semesters and in the summer. I've been trying to resist buying wood/tools etc, because it's easy to spend when you're not building. But if this latest DVD is like his others, this is one of the few things I had to buy while waiting for more free time to build.

Cheers!

John

Robbie, I totatlly agree with others, your DVD's are excellent. I guess my comments could have been viewed as negative but not intended to be. I highly recommend the DVD's.

Hey, Robbie
I just ordered my copy, too. Can't wait as I'm in the process of finishing my first.
