WOW! What a hiatus!
After making some small things to finance the 3 builds I was working on (Silver Willow, Triple G & Dreamcatcher) I sold most of the goods, including 9 "FretBoxes" a little invention I came up with: http://www.fretboxes.com I was able to purchase all the parts for all 3 builds and today I have been working on making my new 3+3 headstock jig - it's almost done and I even have a couple of pics - I threw on the tuners to see how everything looked and I am happy with it (Only took 4 days of re-drawing! UGHHH [headinwall] )

This jig simply fits into the trussrod channel and I can rout the shape out - have one more strip to glue on....

Will be getting in all my parts hopefully by tuesday - need to have everything to double-check my measurements AND have some ebony coming in that is going to be inlaid into the Silver Willow body. It's been 2 months since I have touched the guitars... so excited to get back on track! bliss pizza

Sweet, man! Good to see you back on track. I spent the vast majority of my day working on my radiusing jig. It's evolved several times already gaah . I think I've just about got it worked out though and just need to pick up a couple of parts tomorrow.

BTW, did you get the pic I sent you? You only beat me by a few hours :D

FedEx usually comes first thing in the am, UPS takes forever and NEVER delivers before 4... of course I have not used the items yet, but gimme a week and I bet I'll be on it - looking forward to using that - will be a GREAT thing for my RA!

Thanks Tony - yeah the fretboxes were absolutely gorgeous - especially the Koa ones - the Behlen Lacquer really looked nice on some of them as well -I am happy as a pig in ---- being back on the builds!

The last few days I have been able to get back on guitars 3 & 4 - today I got the lam on the headstock - this looks so awesome with some denatured alcohol on it - this grain is gonna POP yer eyes out! wow7-eyes
I ended up making a shooting board and got my fret slotting done WAY faster than the Japanese fret saw - here's a couple of pics of the lam - it's grafted Franquette & Claro Walnut - I LOVE the brown and black streaks in this wood [:Y:] :

LMAO - YOU know I can PhotoShop this stuff, but what I have found interesting is how to "Photoshop" in the "Wood shop" - I ended up using just s regular ol' drill bit to put these in - but would prefer using a Forstner drill bit the next time as you suggested - I DID have a Brad Point from my Harbor Freight set that melted like a candle whilst drilling into Cocobolo (Cocobolo is in between aluminum and cobalt) - a regular bit likes to travel, and that's the type of journey one would prefer NOT to take ;)

I agree whole-heartedly with the forstner bit recommendation. I've got a set, and they are awesome for stuff like that

I ended up changing the name of this guitar to "Diablo" and just finished it yesterday - did the photoshoot today and will be doing the video over the weekend - it plays real nice - have the action set fairly low, no buzzes, dead-on and sounds like.... well,,,, stay tuned for the video.
