Ok. No possible way to achieve any level of precision the way i was doing things.

I'm going to use the same construction, but I'm going to build my body template from scratch. what a waste of time eh?

Stay posted.

Wow, nice oxymoron in that title.

Sometimes it's time to throw in the towel and start over.

I had to step away from one build when I was trimming the edge with a 2" router bit in a router table and it grabbed the body and through it across the yard.

Ditto on what TGW said, but is it really beyond redemption? So often crazy things like that can turn into "features" with a little creativity - especially in electric guitar builds.

If I commit to quitting before I start it truly commits me to starting before I quit...so that when I'm lazy I persevere.

It was going to be a Tele body made from a beautiful slab of Brazilian Redwood, so I might be able to make a smaller body guitar out of it at some point.

I love this thread!
So, you really aren't giving up,
just changing the way you will do things?
Are you still using the piano wood?

oh man!! if i could quote everything and put a laughing dude beside everything, i would! this is hilarious!

i am still gonna use the piano wood, but i'm going to draw out my own template for a body shape, starting by drawing the neck pocket and centreline.

New plan: Build a piano out of broken guitars, take apart the piano to build guitars with it, halfway through decide to build mandolins instead, take apart the guitar to build another piano that will be taken apart again to build a mandolin, make the mandolins neck off center and give up, then start over from a scratch piano, then give up again when the fretboard is upside down, take 6 months off to write newspaper articles in Seattle taking payment in the form of miniature broken pianos, then spend the next three decades building the worlds largest mandolin ever built from the worlds largest collection of miniature broken pianos.

[clap]
