anyone got any practical/reasonable methods of doing this? i am tired of shimming bolt on flat mount bridge axes...........basically how do you insert a metal slug in to a neck, and what do you use as a shim screw/sleeve..?

Are you talking about adjusting the angle of the neck? If so, that's what neck-angle routing jigs are for, or simply correct measurements on flat tops.

no, i mean how to duplicate the fender type tilt system...?
i was thinking about inlaying a (sanded flat)coin into the neck heel...but the body would still need a threaded hollow insert, and matching allen screw.....

You don't have to use a coin - find one of those slugs that electricians pop out of switch boxes.
And a T-nut would work fine for the threaded insert.

t-nut insert, great idea. wonder where i could find a headless allen bolt to match...cutting it to length wouldn't be a problem

You'll find the t-nut and the headless allen screw (AKA grub screw or set screw) at your local Ace hardware store.

Ace is pretty awesome for unusual/quality hardware(solid copper nails and tacks anyone?).
Sears hardware stores(not the department stores) also carry nice stainless oval head screws for bolting on necks, among other things- some of the chintzy ones used in the commercial guitar world bend.
looking forward to trying this
