That's funny, cuz when I start hearing fingerstyle acoustic piped from my speakers(Usually Leo Kottke, Michael Hedges or Artie Traum, I question myself as to whether I should build an acoustic somewhere down the road... maybe as soon as the ideas for the electrics run out!

I don't listen to music much while I'm building. I might on occasion, if the mood suits it, but usually it's either nothing, or the sound of a ballgame or something in the background.

As far as the thread itself, I don't have a particular strong opinion about it, but I think to be courteous, if you are going to post none lutherie stuff, you should post it here, in the "Off Topic Forum", so people who don't want to see them don't have to weed through them to get to the 'good stuff'.

almost always, NPR....they interview famous people, world news updates, Prairie Home Companion, Radio M, lots of interesting music shows....i find it infinitely engaging. also i notice in rural areas it can assume an air of pretentiousness for sure....classical music/whispering golf-game hosts...but in chicago, NPR programming kicks a_s! and if not NPR, then WDCB! stream it sometime!

I have Tea for the Tillerman by Cat Stevens and Nevermind by Nirvana on the player so the possibility exists, when playing randomly, of having Longer Boats followed by Smells Like Teen Spirit.

Yesterday it was Alice Cooper doing I Love the Dead followed by one of the Brandenburg Concertos......that just made me laugh.

I actually listen to psychedelic trance mostly.
Lately Liquid Soul's "Love in Stereo״ and a lot of the Sourh African genius, Rinkadink.
If it,s not trance it mostly Cry of Love, Porcupine Tree, Rolling Stones or Black Crows.

Yes, old and new. When I was young Romero filmed part of the original Dawn of the Dead at the Harrisburg East Mall which is less than ten miles from here. I remember peeking in the holes in the plywood barricades they set up and seeing all the Zombies on coffee break.

When I was 19 I lived in Chino, CA and would drive up to Mt. Baldy all the time. Just west of Euclid on G Street there was a music store I think called G Street Music (not sure anymore) where there was this old guy who said Frank Zappa would always hang out there when he was a kid. That was right at the time when I got the Roxy and Elsewhere album and ...well....anyway.....nice memory.

The "do you love monster movies?" question was part of the opening oration of the song "Cheepnis" on that album. I could recite the whole thing from memory. There's also a song called "Villiage of the Sun" that talks about it being "out in back of Palmdale where the turkey farmers run". I went out there once just out of curiosity...and sure enough...turkeys all over the place.
