I would bet it is hard enough for that - can always do a "test run" Also: use Saran wrap to put around the neck when making a mold - I've made molds with Bondo - pretty cool schtuff!

I bet J-B Weld is hard enough, if Bondo isn't (which it probably is).

JBweld is slightly weaker than kryptonite.

I actually have a jb weld steel stick at home. I may try that option on version 3 tonight since I don't have any 1/4" mdf on hand.

See, now we're getting somewhere :D

I didn't even think of using filler material with one that you already had that is close, but not quite right. duh I think it will work.

I don't think it really matters between Bondo and JBweld. Bondo might be a bit easier to touch up after it cures.

Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Sometimes you guys make things so difficult. Just make it in pieces.

A little bondo for touch up is fine. Too much (like doing the whole curve) can get knocked loose or tossed by the router.

Good tip StevenWheeler! You could actually just do butt joints with super glue or epoxy and then use a template bit to duplicate it to create your master.

I have a bunch of jigs with little bits of fixed areas where I used bondo.

And to Roger C108, I did not realiaze you were creating your template from 3/4 stock. I would have recommended using 1/4 material because it is easier to file right up to a line and keep it square. Don't dispare though this is a good learning experience for you on how to use hand tools lutherie is about learning from mistakes after all anyway. If I saved all my mistakes, I wouldn't have room in my shop for the good jigs. ;)
