Howdy folks,
Just strung this one up last night. In case it's not obvious, this is a ukulele, not a guitar. I used the Catto plans and had the print shop shrink them down to 80% normal size. I chambered the body to reduce weight, and added an F-hole. It's not very loud acoustically, and the f-hole is a real pain, so I'm going to leave it off of the next version.

The body and neck are mahogany, the top is maple, and the fingerboard and headstock veneer are indian rosewood. Finish is nitro lacquer. This is also my first burst.

It has two piezo pickups, one at the neck, and the other under the bridge. Right now they're both wired to the jack, but I intend to add a 3 position switch as soon as I get one.











A customer/friend suggested I call it the "Less Paul" because of it's size.

Wow that is super cool. Do the piezos touch the top when it was glued, or is there a gap there so the sound is coming from the body. What did you glue them with?
I just did a similar experiment with piezos in a LP shaped guitar, they sounded hot enough, but I also have a Baggs T bridge in it, and when I compared, the T bridge(straight to the jack) sounds so sweet, you can see why piezos usually go with a buffer circuit, and get glued into silicone. Any thoughts on piezo tone on nylon vs. steel string?
What is the scale length and how is it tuned?
Love the F hole, it was worth it.

I must agree with the rest, it just doesn't get cooler than this
The F hole is definitely worth a little pain and suffering, IMO. Totally completes the look. If you skip it on the next one, you'll have to add something else to spice it up.

Very cool, installing the pickups inside. I wonder if you could do that with magnetic pickups? Probably couldn't get them close enough to the strings without causing playability issues.

I like the acoustic style bridge. I was planning to do that on my first electric, which I'll likely be working on this summer whilst humidity is too high for building acoustics.

I can't resist a wise crack about leaving your Les Paul in the clothes drier too long and shrinking it, but, seriously, this is a very cool little instrument. Beautifully executed, too. What a concept! I think it's excellent.

That's just beautiful carving and finishing!! Maybe next time you could do a true archtop style if you want more acoustic volume
