This is a guitar that I always wanted, an electric with wide string spacing like we see on "finger style" guitars. It came out well, very comfortable, light, a nice pallet of tones.
3 piece neck through, maple-port orford-maple
Port orford body, cherry trim
Compound FB, maple, 9-18 radii
1 13/16 nut ( a little too wide)
2 1/4 saddle spacing
Neck pup EMG 89XR (active pup with coil tap)
Saddles are Baggs T bridge inserts with a control X to blend the signals.
Total weight 6 pounds

Cool beans.
I built a chambered electric with no taper in the string spacing 20-some years ago for a local jazzer.
He still uses it daily in his classes and while gigging.

I would love to hear it with just the bridge pick ups.
Are those piezos?
Does it sound like an acoustic?

The bridge pickups sound very nice, but as far as acoustic, it is a reasonable approximation, perhaps on par with a basic acoustic bridge pickup on a mid range guitar for acoustic tone, but they do have a sparkley and clear tone to them. I have an I Beam on one of the acoustics I made, so that is what I have to compare it to, the I beam on the acoustic is a different animal in terms of true acoustic tone. There is a sweet spot in the blend leaning mostly to the acoustic side that makes for this crisp and full tone, with both the single coil and the humbucker. The Baggs product, the T bridge is generally a TOM replacement, I just used the elements so I could achieve the string spacing I wanted.
I did glue in a cheap piezo in the cavity, inspired by Phillip Patton's efforts, they had some great output, but it was a brash and untamed sound that was able to pick up my hand touching the neck, they are not connected to anything right now.
My friend ran through some tones when I first wired it, I think he may have some effects on, so it is not a very satisfying sound clip. He is performing with it tomorrow, hopefully some nice video from that.

I have an LR Baggs lb 6 pickup.
Maybe I'll try that.

I did actually ask the Baggs tech about that, apparently the LB6 has 6 pickups in it, but 2 are out of phase for some good reason I am sure, but that prohibits it from working properly with the control x which is the blender circuit.

It is a nice combo, it leans the guitar toward country, jazz, while still having the ability for a hot rock solo, it has enough output to overdrive an amp for classic crunch. Hey, this is the Lindsey Buckingham configuration, so it can work in his diverse range.

Another cool thing with the electronics is that they are silent, there is no ground hum or change when you touch the strings.

Kid is a good player, too, IMO.
I asked the Baggs tech about the LB6 installed in a slab git,
and he said it would work.
He also said they installed one in a git for Chet Atkins.
Since I have one laying around,
I'm going to use it on my next solid body.
