I'm gathering materials for my first scratch-built, which will be a Martin-ish 5 size. It's for my daughter and I think she'd love koa, just because it's from Hawaii, as am I. Since it's my first time bending (with a blanket from John Hall, thanks!) I'd like to use some with minimum curl but with nice color. Does this sound like a good idea?
Anybody got plain koa? I've seen some beautiful curly stuff on the sponsors' sites, but nothing plain. Does it exist?

Thanks,

Pat

It does exist, Give Steve at Colonial a try, I know he has some beautiful high Curl sets, but he may have some plainer stuff too.

Just another thought, I have no real experience with Koa, I have only ever used one set, but I know the guys here say it can stain if not handled correctly during bending, I know John Hall has a lot of experience with it so it might be worth talking to him about the best method to bend it.

I had seen it, but missed it this time for some reason. Ordered, in a rush to get to the dinner table, just saw where I should have emailed you. Anyway, thanks and looking forward to getting it.

Hey Bob, no problem.
Russell, that was my last acoustic set. I have a Koa top left and some Koa drop tops.
Pat, thanks!

Hey Pat;
I was talking to Ed at Acoustic Woods last week & he told me he had a bunch of plain Koa on sale... I don't think he has pics on his site, but drop him a note & I'm pretty sure he'll be able to help.

Thanks, Daniel,

I just ordered from Doug at Blue Spirit. I'll surely keep Ed in mind next time.
