I agree with everything you said, Hesh. Got mine today too and have watched most of it. It is very good and I am well pleased. Robbie, I'd like the steel string building DVD if you give them free for endorsements.

Great to hear such nice reviews! Robbie's in Brazil now, but I'm sure he'll be very pleased to hear these great comments when he returns!

Just so others know, there is some video in this DVD. The section on French Polish does show a video clip on how to apply shellac. I know because I'm the one who shot the video! Hope you all enjoy the DVD!

Got mine yesterday, haven't watched it yet. I did get the steel string video a couple of weeks ago and have watched it. It's very good. I was worried about the still picture format. But after watching it I find it to be a very effective way of teaching this. The photos were top notch, and there are plenty of them.

I was concerned about the still photos at first as well, but after going through it, it sure makes it easy to see and follow along. It also makes it easy to reference when you go back and FF or RW to find a specific subject.
I watch mine quite a bit and its a great reference tool.

How does this differ, then, from a web page with a bunch of photos and explanatory text? Yes, I know there must be an audio track on the DVD, but other than that?

I ask because I'm a much effective learner by reading text rather than listening. People. Talk. Slow. andIreadfast! :) I also hate search/find in video format.

I see your point.....I do think that I will have to go back and listen/learn many times before getting it down pat. I will say that the audio portion is very clear and concise and it related to the picture format nicely, it's a well done DVD that is better than a book in my opinion.

Just a thought, but maybe Robbie could provide a transcript with his DVD's so if you are at your shop and can't watch the DVD there at least you'll have the written form.

Thanks,

Got mine yesterday. Robbie I know you are setting on the beach getting a Brazilan tan line but I have to say supper job. Clear consise script. Great aduio clearity. Great photo work. I really liked the FP section with the vido clips. This is a great basic how to DVD.

For thse that want a manual or text, I unserstand the advantage of written text, but I would say watch it and take notes. It is keep directly to the point with no manusha added. So if you approched watching the DVD as if you were in a college lab, note taking would be simple.

Very good job Robbie

Did anyone get a shipping confirmation email? Or do I just have to anxiously wait and see how quickly/slowly it'll wing its way accross the Atlantic?

I have been taking notes as I go along. The DVD is far more effective than you might think at first. I too, was a little surprised at the format but after 5 minutes, I was sold.

I just ordered the Finishing DVD too.

Mattia,
I can call the publisher for you and check on the status of your order. I know him very well, and I can get him to send one pronto if you were somehow missed. You can also buy this DVD straight from www.apprenticepublishing.com for those interested.

Thanks, I'll check. I've been having HDD problems, so there may well have been a confirmation that got lost in the ether. I'm missing about a week's worth of emails :-/

Russ & Mattia,
I went ahead and asked the publisher where your orders are, and he said that both of your dvd's were shipped 1/6 and you should expect them no later than 1/20. Let me know if you don't get them by then.

I haven't had a chance to view the DVD yet, but, I know that many of you are commenting on his FP section, and, I would like to let you all know that he has given me credit for some of the techniques used. I cannot wait to get my hands on a copy of it though, and see the DVD in its totality.

WOW!!! I take a vacation and everyone starts talking about me!
Thanks for all the excellent comments about my latest DVD. I hope everyone is enjoying it and benefiting from the information presented in the DVD.
I am still in Brasil but will be back next week.
Thanks to all those who have purchsed the DVD and Thanks Tracy for following up on some orders.
As Marshall Brune said, I mention him in the DVD in French Polishing section. His contact info is in the resoucres section of the DVD.
Gotta run, this vacation thing is wearing me out.
