I'm thinking about attending the Ervin Somogyi course in February. I have built 3 guitars and am starting on my 4th.

Will I get to meet anyone of you great guys there?
Any thoughts for those that have attended or want to attend?

My hope is that I will learn how to choose wood and be able to take that wood and make the guitar sound like I want it to sound, or as close as possible.

If you are serious about learning/building and want to actually learn more than how to follow a blue print... then take the course. I took it and would take it again in a heart beat! Ervin is unbelievable!

I just got off the phone with him. What a nice man he is. It seems the February course is full, but he added a May course. Anyone want to join me?

The new course is scheduled for May 22-28. It is in Oakland, California at his shop. You should call Ervin Somogyi and get the details from him. See the link in my initial post for his contact info. If you want, PM me your number and I'll give you a call and tell you what I know.

Ervin is a great guy. Met him a few times at the NCAL meetings. He has a great card trick on top of being a very genuine person.
I might be attending the May course as well. Let's keep in touch - would be interesting to meet forum members.

I'm considering taking the May course as well. I'd be very interested to hear from others who have taken his course, to get some more reports on it. I'd also be interested to hear from anyone who has first-hand experience of his guitars. I know he's highly regarded, and a great guy, but I haven't heard or played any of his instruments myself.
