Awesome! Love to see how much harp ukuleles seem to be catching on.

I don't know whether to feel proud or ashamed of how much time I spend on my instruments. I've only done design work, thinned some plates, and cut half my rosette pieces, and you're already done and on to the next one...

But once again, I'm bothered by bridge mobility restriction... that is, the bass side of the bridge being right up on the perimeter, rather than fiddling the shape and neck angle to get the bridge centered horizontally. As with the un-beveled tail block on the regular uke, I know it's commonly done that way, but for the life of me I can't understand why. Surely it would hurt bass response, which is even more necessary when you need to support the sub-bass string frequencies. Do you have any insight, or just following tradition?

I did a quick french polish and then rubbed it to a satin and now glued on the the bridge. Tomorrow I'll go to the local music shop and pick up some strings

Looks great Brian! And thanks, your picture reminded me that I not only have to ensure that I design my soundhole so that I can get in to bolt the neck, I have to make sure I have a clamp that will fit in for the bridge.

Or use a vacuum clamp.

I bet I could make a custom one off cam clamp of proper size in less time than I would spend finding a vaccume pump and all of the other items I would need (but don't even know what they are) then learn to do vaccume clamping. It would be nice though!

Yes, would be more effort than it's worth if you're starting from zero. Come down to TN and you can use mine ;)

Here are some strung up pics: it will take me a few weeks before I figure out how to play this thing well enough to make a video

I considered inviting myself to your gathering (even though I'm not a TN luthier). If you all had been West TN luthiers* I may have made the trip. . .

* Please note this statement should not fuel any east side, west side TN rivalry that may or may not exist, it is simply a matter of distance.

I see a name change in the future - North American Luthiers!

Well after eight days of darkness, I can finally post these pics. I decided to build a single 0 size guitar as part of my build thread. I did most of the work right before the storm (a little in the darkness too), but I'm hoping to be able to finish within a week or so. Maybe there can be a "people effected by hurricane sandy deadline" as well as a normal deadline laughing6-hehe

The materials so far are:

Adirondack spruce top- $20
Carpathian top braces- $4
Siris back and sides- $6
Cocobolo binding- $6
BWB purfling- $3
Spanish cedar back braces- $4
Spanish cedar kerfing- $4
Sapele neck block- Free
plywood end block- free
Herringbone rosette- $3

Here's the only bracing shot I have:
