I care so much about the members of the Luthiers Forum, I have done some research to help all of you small businessmen (and women!) take the necessary steps to make the future secure. To illustrate my point I have done some comparisons that I think you will find most enlightening:

1) If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock 1-year ago, it would now be worth $49.00

2) With Enron, you would have $0.00 left of the original $1000.00

3) With WorldComm, you would have $4.83 left.

4) On the other hand, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer, 1-year ago, drank all the beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling fund, you would have $214.00

As you can see, the current investment advice is to drink heavily and recycle!

It's called to 401-KEG Plan!!

I have to tell you, it's so nice to be able to give back!

Steve B

Now that's my kind of financial security. Only problem, my beer of choice, New Glarus Native, only comes in bottles.
Maybe I'll but $1000 worth of Coors light, dump it down the drain and then cash in the AL. I'd still have $214. Wait, that's not such sound financial thinking. But then neither is building guitars for a living.

Thanks a lot Steve for that very sound advice!!! You see, I sort of had a funny feeling deep down inside that there was somehow something more to drinking...
I remember reading a post somewhere that a used Traugott was worth about 6K back in the mid nineties...   Had I known...
That, or somehow getting a time machine, travelling back to 1934, staying there a few years and buying up every one of those 90 D-45's... (I wouldn't want Gene's...)

D-45s ..... nah, I would rather have been aound in'60 buying up those flame tops no one wanted. And maybe a couple of them Explorers and V's for good measure.

An couple ugly 59's are almost worth more than a house .. in Maui.

... Ahh yes, electric guitars... Sorry, my mind is not wired to think 'electric'...
Although I agree those flamed tops are worth more than the D-45's... I've seen one on Gruhn's that worth (and I still think it's a typo..) 275 000 $
I wonder what a 58 Korina Explorer is worth nowadays?...
