It looks like I will be. I haven't a chance of finishing by the end of November.

(We haven't got a teeth gnashing smiley!)

I'm still hopeful even though things have improved - commercially speaking. Just have to try and fit it between other instruments. I've even had someone interested in the challenge build. Things really are looking up!

I doubt I have a chance to finish - I have too many other projects in the way. gaah
Last time I tried to rush things for a contest deadline, I was not happy with the end result. I promised I will not do that again.
So I am finishing a couple of home furniture projects, wedding this weekend, regular work, finishing a classical that I am close to abandoning as well due to other issues [headinwall] . So my shop and work is in disarray. I am considering dropping everything and just starting fresh on my two mandos.

So far I have the tops topographically profiled. I may still finish them - but I can't promise.

After starting with a good pace (even set to finish early) I have slowly fallen off. It's just really busy here. I could finish on time with a little luck, but I'm concerned a lout finding a mando player and learning how to post video in time. The Cardinals playoff run also looks to cut my shop time way down.

I should be good, although I'm doing a terrible job of documenting it :P Got a new SD card for my camera, and then discovered that my reader only works with ancient tiny cards... so now I have a bunch of pictures in limbo until I get out and buy a new reader. Also been tough going due to humidity, but I'm currently at the open backed box stage.

No TV in the shop, just the radio. But October baseball really needs to be watched! I wouldn't get any work done anyway; unless you count high fiving a mandolin as work. . . I do have a mobile french polish station by the TV, but I'm not there yet :(

I'm not likely to get done by the end of November. Ended up working on the house and now am up in Maine for a few weeks. I still have a lot to do including the top which I'm using falcate bracing on so it will likely go slow. Regardless I'll keep trying but extra time would be good.

Ever the optimist, I think that I will finish despite my minor setback of having to retop this log.

An unexpected construction project and two weeks away from home have pretty much shot me down. On the other hand I will be back in the shop this weekend and will keep working. I'm not giving up but will probably not meet the deadline because I won't compromise the build quality to save time. On the other hand, if we extend to the end of December then I'm still a contender. Either way I've had a great time so far [:Y:]

It'll be close, but short of any nightmares in the finishing stage I expect to finish.

I'm done! laughing6-hehe

I know I've not been posting too much here, (like, none) but I am reading. Although I'm behind there too...

Keep up the good work guys, and get that finish on!

I'm quietly confident that I'll be finished finishing in time to finish by end November. Have just finished the pore-fill with epoxy. A light sand this morning and the first coat of varnish goes on.

Not to boast, but along the way I've also completed another build which is a Christmas present for a relative. It's now at the same stage as my challenge build so they will be finished together! Only stumbling block might be as Todd suggested - getting the vid together!

Oh, and to really rub it in, my wife gave birth to our second daughter last week 8-)

....what have you guys been doing with yourselves beehive

I think the deadline should be extended for anyone who loses power. Seems fair if the effects of Frankenstorm are as bad as they say it's going to be.

Left Vermont day before yesterday to run south - just in time. Saw lots of power line equipment headed north and east. Hope you guys don't get whacked too bad. Although maybe there will be more support in my soft campaign to move the deadline to after Christmas wow7-eyes

Ha ha ha! I will be done anyway because I no longer need power to finish. Just finishing left for me. Sand paper and a brush or rattle can don't plug in!

Apparently Tony has a gas powered video camera and computer. . .

At the very least, might I suggest softening the deadline for posting video? Perhaps a final picture(s) and cost list be required by the deadline. . . This is of course a selfish suggestion since I don't know how to play my instrument and have no idea how to even upload a video once I find a player (assuming I can fit into his/her schedule). If not, I'm okay with not being in the judging (after all, from the outset I didn't expect to come close to finishing [let alone getting any votes]), but I would be a bit disappointed If I managed to finish on time but couldn't be part of the contest because I am a poor musician with technological ignorance.

I'm okay with whatever you all decide though. The field of people who would actually be in the running would be affected by whatever decision is made. . .
