Rod, me and you buddy. We are the only ones with double upper transverse braces. Just like the old Martin Blueprint shows 'em. Even on cutaways, both of us. Interesting, velly interesting!

Rod, I'm taking notes on your layout here bud! There is only one other luthier I know that does what you are doing right here with the bridgeplate and the first tonebar. Where did you learn this sir? PM me if you want.

Oh, you know where. Actually there are two, not including my humble 3 guitars with this bracing layout.

This is a pic before I did a final shaping, the tone bars turned out way smaller for the tap tone I was trying to achieve.

Actually, I'm wondering if you've tryed it out yet? Since I sent you the blueprint about a year ago.Rod True38740.9213194444

Here you go... A bit dusty. It's been on my bench for about 6 months. Fans are the only thing glued down.

Ok I'll upload my classical. My bracing pattern is copied from some 66 Ramirez plans.

OOps! That's what I meant, similiar shape, totally different braces, so a good opportunity to talk about the differences, You figured that out. Thanks for the come back!

Well if Graham will pony up then here is mine again, trimmed a bit from when I was asking for a bit of help!

Again, bracing ala Larrivee, Laskin, Manzer. X-braced back is under construction!

I wrote "2006" on this top...the pressure is on!!

Thanks

Shane

Keeping in mind I've only completed one instrument, and have the second box closed and waiting for me to finish it:

Then there's the second one, baritone, bracing was a touch overly 'beefy' on this, lightened it up just a touch afterwards. Trying the 'Dana Bourgeouis' one-scalloped-one-straight approach here:

Also figured I'd try an X-braced back:

Tap tones are similar to my first (semitone between the top and back), and guesstimated brace mass is about what a trad martin ladder (low/fat braces) would be, but the back sure held its shape better. As to the sound...we'll see.

Rod, I know you are functioning on little sleep. Did you send me a blueprint? I sent you some pics of one like that. I don't have a blueprint of it. What format did you send it? It appears this stuff all aligns with the finger braces, very symmetrical. The oversize bridgeplate is definitely not mainstream. Congrats on a nice bracing job.

Shane - that's very clean looking work!

I couldn't resist posting these examples of complicated bracing

Robbie,
Those drop-down kerfing sections are pretty interesting. What's the inspiration there? I dig it. Love the brazilian, too.

I have it in my mind to try one of those one day, but I have a huge list to clear off first (without my wife knowing it!)

Same here J., We both are very stubborn folks aren't we? Great thread guys! Shane, i'll almost have the same problem, ie tryin' to build the next two for my folks knowing that my dad will sneak up from time to time in my shop, i'll have to come up with some non-damaging little lie to hide the facts!
