Very interesting. The obvious is a darker color throughout the wood and possible stabilization? They are claiming they reduce the moisture content to 4% and then 360 degrees in a vacuum for four hours. Do you think the vacuum keeps the wood from charring?

After building a hot pipe for bending, I've decided to make a side bending machine as well. I plan on making at least two more med. jumbos - one each for my brother and my nephew. They have both had cancer, with my nephew doing stem cell treatment for his fourth bout of cancer. I would really like to suprise them next year. The pipe bender will be great for touch-ups, back straps, and the solid linings I plan to use on my challenge Guitar.
After I put the roast in the oven, I'll start sketching some plans. If anyone has any advice on this, please let me know. :D

I just picked up a sheet of MDF to make a couple of radius dishes. Next week I'll be changing my name to "Dusty". laughing6-hehe
I'll be spending the next few weeks to jig-up, and regulating RH in the shop. I will post pictures of anything that looks interesting.

I had some time this morning to make a pair of radius dishes - 28' for the top and 15' for the back. I'll seal them with a couple of coats of finish this evening.

Nice job Dusty. I always feel proud to build curved things with square bits...reminds me of forming large radius cornice molding with nothing more than a table saw blade.

I need to say a Big Thank You to Chris Paulic for his radius dish tutorial! [clap] My set-up isn't near as nice as Chris's, but it gave me a good starting point to get the job done.

Hey! Come on over! They aren't difficult to make, but unless your dust collection is good, it is a PITA. No wonder most just buy them for $70 a pop. laughing6-hehe

I am trying to avoid both buying, and making dust. Perhaps a horse head in your bed will convince you to do it. laughing6-hehe

My wife will tell you that there isn't enough room in the bed because of the resident horse's A$$!

I might be making a material change! I just got a delivery of six carpathian spruce tops from John Preston at Old World Tonewood. One small AA, two A and three B grades. They are all super stiff, and a couple have bearclaw figure! They all look a lot like Adi spruce and really have a nice ring to them. Also got some brace wood as well as an extra freebee. John's follow up after my order was great, just like everyone says.
I'll take some pics tomorrow, and try to make up my mind. :D

Sorry Zeke, but I've been busy with paying customers who insist that I work within their time frame. What nerve! wow7-eyes
The Carp tops look great, but I think that I'll keep the better ones for my brother/nephew builds. I'm expecting five more tops from Maurice Roy. Four WR cedar and one yellow cedar.
I've finally got the RH in my shop to about 40%, but the weather has been anywhere from 7C to -10C so I am always fiddling with the furnace humidifier. [headinwall] Hopefully I can soon start mixing some business with pleasure time in the shop. :)

How true, but they also hand me a 40% deposit, and pay the balance on delivery! For this, I will forgive their' petty needs. :)
