This rotary hand piece is a cool little tool. It is air powered, spins at an advertised 350,000 RPMs and has an air outlet on the front for clearing the dust. I broke a brass screw off in the peg head from the routing template and used this little guy to grind it out. Maybe I should have been a dentist.

ImageI don't have a buffing setup yet, so I'm polishing by hand with 3M automotive compounds and t-shirts.

I was wondering why the headstock wasnt shiny. Now I know. You don't have a buffing arbor. Everyone knows you can't get a good shine without one. laughing6-hehe

Image#3 will be a "camp guitar" and my original plans didn't call for a burst. But I had some dyed lacquer left over from #2, so I couldn't resist getting some practice. I really like how the burst looks with the tortoise binding.

Well, I ruined a bridge blank this evening. [headinwall] If that's the worst thing that happens while finishing this thing up, I'll be a very happy camper.

Are you certain this is your second guitar?

That burst is sweet. Nice touch making your own pick guard. Did you use the same colors as the sunburst?

Thanks for the kind words. I'm definitely liking the darker burst on #3 better than the one on #2, but for #2 I was trying to match the Mahogany. Tony, I did use the same dyes for the pickguard. I mixed the epoxy very slowly so there weren't many bubbles to deal with. No vacuum or heating.

What the?? How? eek

3 1/2 months? At this rate you could crank out 4 a year, sell at master luthier prices and live the high life well below the poverty line. We have a professional infiltrating the newb ranks! Congrats. It's looking great. Can't wait to see and hear more.

(my only hope is that you're done so early everyone will forget)
