Right, going to need some help here.

I am thinking of/ curious about extending the neck block to give more support to the fret board (would that be a fretboard extension?), but am not sure about how to design/ execute this.

I could get a large piece of wood and just carve it to desired shape. Not liking this idea as it would produce a lot of waste and we all know wood doesn't grow on trees.

I could glue up an L shaped neck block.

I suppose I could do with OLFer's letting me know why they do/ do not do this and their method of attack. If extending support for the fret board should I also consider creating a larger "foot print" where it will join to the back (C shaped profile)?

This build will have a sloping dovetail neck joint, and not too sure if this will affect how to go about the extension..

Main issue with a single block as well is orientation - you probably know this, but want to mae sure the end grain is not on any of the gluoing surfaces - can be done from 3 pieces glued together in a square 'c' shape - the shape to your own desire - watching again for the end grain issue -nice little puzzle.

I will be doing what I did not my first - and having a Spanish heel + extension under the fret board - will make this slightly lower that the actual position of the top, and before fitting the top, glue on a spare bit of spruce which will then be profiled to sit flush with the undersde of the top... mind you, still not decide on neck joint....

Been a long time since my last post, had a lot on over the past few months Iincluding getting married and honeymoon.

Will be back in the workshop this week and will post some pictures of my progress.

Well I got to the workshop to have a quick look and see where every thing was. All looking good, so I thought I would do a quick job just so I felt like I have done something.

I decided to cut the truss rod channel.

Cut the thing to dang deep! !!!!

I have now left the workshop and will return another day. Probably not a day after work.
