I have just been wondering what kind of bridge pins you all have been using?
Check out this link to some nice bone pins. Does anybody use these? What degree of taper do they have?

Bone pins

I don't but most generic are either 5deg of 3deg. email them to find out. I use mostly ebony, or bone 5deg but on some I have use FWI in combonation with FWI nut and saddle

I emailed them last week. Haven't heard from them.

i've not used the pins in your link. and at that price i won't be.

i use bone as standard in my builds, with ivory as an upgrade option.

in repair work i use bone as standard but offer ebony as a cheaper alternative.

steve at colonial, an established olf sponsor, was stocking a wide range of pins in the various tapers and sizes. why not see if he can meet your requirements?

I have ox bone bridge and end pins available in different sizes and with different dots. My prices are very reasonable and all OLFer's get 10% off the total.

Bone always, bone nut, bone saddle, bone pins. Oh I use a 5 deg taper and pay about ?1.10 each ($1.80)

I use a variety of different pins. Ebony, Rosewood, Bone, Ivory, Fossilized Walrus Ivory.

I know some say they can hear a difference, but I am certainly not one of those people.

I try to stay away from plastic, but that is for no other reason than I think they look cheap.

colin, the price you are paying for your pins is about half the "good" prices on this side of the pond. does that price include a dot?

I'm mainly wanting to try bone because plastic and wood seem to wear pretty bad.

   Better to wear on the bridge pins than the bridge patch .

StuMac sells nice bone pins, unslotted the way they should be (imho). I wish they would get some made with unbleached bone to match the unbleached nuts and saddles they sell.

Mattia, I get them from Touchstone Tonewoods they have an abalone dot are unbleached, slotted. Part number 3398BN, they are ?1.10 each.

mattia, the bridge pins are listed under the new items section. it took a bit of searching to find.

For those of you in the US, check out Grizzly for pins. They have a camel bone pin set for around $14. Also rosewood & ebony pin sets with or without MOP dots and some with a brass "eye" - really cool looking. They've also got buffalo horn (black), brass and plain boxwood.

The fit & finish is OK to good & the prices are very reasonable. All the pins are 3 degrees.

Colby I use a lot of ebony and I don't have major wear issues with them. I don't use any plastic as that has always been a dislike of mine. I have never used any rose wood but I would think they would wear faster than ebony.

I use ebony, rosewood, horn or bone, depending on the guitar. Ebony,
rosewood and horn seem as durable as bone in my experience. Plastic tends
to distort badly with time.
