I'm trying to build an acoustic/electric hybrid. It will utilize an acoustic pre-amp system with piezo electric pickup, and will also utilize a hot rail coil tapped pickup with its its own switches and jack seperate from the acoustic system. I want to be able to have unplugged and plugged acoustic and plugged in electric. I know how a magnetic pickup works. I plan to make a patch that will glue on to the inside of the sound board to hold the pickup in place so it's solid. My question is this. Will putting an HB hot rail close to a sound hole still give me the electric sound I want from it or will the soundhole change its tone to a more electric/acoustic sound?

You didn't say whether you were going to use electric strings, or acoustic strings.
