Luthiers Mercantile International has it and ivoroid too. I did not see any pics but there was a thread here in the OLF with a picture of a guitar with tortoise binding. It looked pretty nice!peterm38758.5874537037

Well, well, well. Here we go again…

Are you talking about TORTOISE, TORTIS, TOR-TIS®, TORTOIS or TOR-
TOIS?

Please don't mention anything to Mario…

Although I could swear somebody spelled tortoise TORTISE as well, might
have seen TORTOSE too but maybe that's a person's name or a typo.

Nevermind, bear with my humor, it's about a previous thread having to do
with celluloid TORTOISE bindings, spelling, Deep River Vintage and
turtles…

StewMac sells some, so does LMI, vast choice here also:
Axiom
Depending on the thickness, it's easy to work with and bend. If it's real
celluloid DO NOT use your beltsander… At least try not to, it's very
flamable.
I think Matt Gage makes some beautiful guitars with tortoise bindings as
well. Do a search on tortoise on the OLF.

Ah yes, Martin sells it too. Oddly enough the *brown, red, amber & black
stuff* bindings and end grafts they sell is really good looking, plenty thick,
and have nothing to do with their cheap pixelated guards.

I asked John (Greven) the other day about Tor-Tis binding, as I'd like to use
it too. He doesn't make it as a standard product, but you can special order it.
He's pretty busy these days, so I hope you're not in a hurry.
It is not plastic, and requires a little heat to bend it as binding, but once
you've got it shaped it's easy to work with and much more durable than
plastic binding.
