I recieved my, OLF auction, Walnut back and sides a few days back. I must say, better than the pictures portrayed.

I thought I'd take a moment to say thank you. Specifically to Gallery Hardwoods, but in general to all that support the OLF through thier generous contributions to the OLF auction.

Below is the set along with the blank for the walnut and mahogany neck I'll be using during the build. It'll be the end of summer before I start this one...

Thanks again.

Think about doing a walnut neck. It would match very nicely, and walnut carves similar to mahogany.

Plenty strong. I use straight grain wood, and pay careful attetion to the grain direction near the nut, but I also do this with mahogany. My latest necks are built up from two wide strips of walnut with a 1/4" strip of curly maple or purpleheart in the middle.

Hi Al, do you have a pic of that neck with purple heart strip, i do have some and was considering usin' it for a laminated neck and i am curious to see how it looks ? If that is not too much of a bother and if you have a chance ? Thanks
