Thought I would share my latest build project. Well, after years of being drawn to the shredders and gunslinger guitarists, I guess my tastes have matured as I have gotten older. I found myself discovering Stevie Ray Vaughan. His tone, phrasing and overall playing style just got me really interested and excited. Being a tone chaser, I ended up picking up a used Super Reverb. The Super Reverb is a great amp. So much tone, straight in - no pedals or effects, you can play for hours. Only thing - it is friggin loud and you need to crank it to get the sweet edge of break up tones, but I found with a VOX wah and TS 808 you can have a sh*t load of fun at room volumes.

Anyway, chasing Stevie's tone got me gassing for his guitar (I know, it is a sickness). So I built this one, inspired by SRV.

Heres the Spec's:
Alder Body (Made by me)
Angled Neck joint with increased access on the lower horn
Maple Neck with Rosewood Fretboard (Musikraft - Still not making my own necks but plan to try one this summer)
Jumbo Frets
12 - 16 inch Radius Neck
Fender Texas Special Pickups
Gotoh Trem & Tuning Heads

This is my first attempt at a burst. Not perfect and far from exact to SRV's Strat in terms of colour and the burst, but it was a lot of fun to make and I am happy with the end results. The clear coat is Nitrocellulose Lacquer from a spray can.

Sounds awesome and plays excellent. The Texas Specials pickups are hotter than the standard Strat pickups and the Gotoh stays in tune so much better than my USA Strat.

The SRV Strat, EVH Frankenstein, Mahogany Charvel style super strat and the African Paduak are all my builds. The others are great guitars from Gibson and Fender.
